The revolutionary design of the GMC Hummer generates enough power to tackle almost any terrain. For the 2024 model, GMC is extending its super-truck into an electric SUV model. The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV will combine all the features of a truck with the benefits of an SUV. GM recently announced the new tactical technology and features for the new Hummer SUV everyone is talking about. Let’s take a closer look!

Performance
There is only one powertrain option available in the new Hummer EV, a setup of three electric motors that combine to make 1,000 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard in this model. While GMC estimates that the 0-60 mph time is between 3 and 3.5 seconds, it will be interesting to see the Hummer’s performance on the test track. For now, we will have to wait and see.
With regards to towing and payload capacity, GMC hasn’t yet released this information. To stay competitive with the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian’s R1T and R1S models, the new Hummer will need to have a towing capacity of between 7500 and 11,000 pounds. The payload capacity will need to be between 1500 and 3500 pounds.
The Hummer EV uses new General Motors battery technology that provides roughly 350 miles of driving range on a single charge. The Hummer is set to have 800-volt electrical output and 350-kilowatt charging capabilities. This would allow it to add 100 miles of range with 10 minutes of charge time. The Hummer EV will be able to charge on public charging terminals or at home with a provided adapter. In this case, charging times will be significantly slower than the charge time for those with access to a DC fast-charge station.
Power Station Generator
A Power Station will be offered with an onboard electric generator that can draw 3 kilowatts of power from the vehicle battery. The Power Station can turn the Hummer EV into a power source on backcountry road and serve as a backup generator during a power outage. Full details on the Power Station setup haven’t yet been released, but GMC says that users will be able to charge another electric vehicle through its 240-volt outlet. This technology will have significant capabilities for the off-road use of an electric vehicle.
Design
Hummers have been primarily SUVs up to this point. The Hummer EV has a cab that resembles a pickup truck with a five-foot bed; the SUV model will follow the truck model in production, and its design should be released sometime this year. The cab of the Hummer EV is as spacious as the GMC Sierra pickup truck. The interior can be opened to the outside with a new removable roof reminiscent of t-top muscle cars of the 1970s and 1980s. Transparent panels are similar to a glass sunroof, but they can be lifted off the vehicle rather than just opened. This gives the Hummer EV a similar look and feels to the Jeep Gladiator.
The moon is the inspiration for the interior design, with moon-boot footprints on the pedals and speaker grilles showing the Sea of Tranquility. These are not-so-subtle reminders of GMC’s connection to NASA and the electric-powered Apollo 15 lunar rover the company helped develop.
The infotainment screen in the Hummer EV is a large 13.4-inch display with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. Epic Games, the Fortnite video game makers, have been contracted by GMC to design the graphic for the interface. Regular GMC connectivity features will be standard, including Apple Carplay and Android capabilities, Wi-fi hotspot, and GMC On-Star. More information about the technical elements is sure to become available closer to the truck’s release date.
The Hummer’s Super Cruise systems will be a standard feature. Lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring are also expected to be standard features. Other safety features will include pedestrian detection with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning system, and adaptive cruise control.
Pricing
Pricing for the 2024 Hummer EV starts at $79,995 for the base model. The Hummer EV 2x is $89,955, the EV 3x is $99,995, and the Hummer Edition 1 is $105,595. The Edition 1 price jumps to $110 595 with the extreme off-road package. It’s not on sale yet, but GMC is accepting reservations before its release.
There are over 200 accessories in the Hummer SUV catalog available with all models above the base model. It’s important to note the Super Cruise safety feature requires a paid subscription after the trial period ends. The same goes with the pre-installed On-Star system. The Hummer EV SUV model is sure to be a game-changer for outdoor enthusiasts who want to make the switch to electric vehicles. If the Power Station range and availability are as good as GMC is claiming, this new EV design is sure to pave the way for the future of electric vehicles.
