Electric motorcycles are in increasingly high demand. They are the environmentally friendly option. They can also be the cheaper option, especially if you have installed solar panels in your house. The Sondors Metacycle promises to revolutionize the world of electric motorcycles. But does it deliver?  Here’s what you need to know before you buy one.

Performance

The Sondors Metacycle is designed to make the rider feel as comfortable as possible. The seats make it easy for you to control the motorcycle. They have also eliminated vibrations. Because there isn’t a fuel engine, the bike will be very quiet, and you won’t need to smell any unpleasant fumes. There are a few other unique fixtures that help this bike stand out.  First, it has a slot that you can use to charge your mobile phone. There is a clear sleeve in front of the seat for you to put your phone. Because of this, you will be able to stay connected while you are riding.

This bike has been designed to be very lightweight. The frame is made primarily from aluminum, so it weighs just 200 pounds. When you’re riding, it will be able to achieve a maximum output of 20 horsepower, delivering 130 pounds of torque. The top speed is 80 miles an hour. This means that it will be fast enough to cruise down the highways. There are disc brakes on both the front and rear wheel. This ensures that you will have plenty of control over the motorcycle. Currently, the Sondors team is in the final stages of getting it approved to become road legal.

The bike comes equipped with an electronic board that will tell you how fast you are traveling and how long you have been riding. This is the ideal way of tracking your trip, making sure that you stay within its range. It will also tell you what gear you are currently in.

Design

The design of the Sondors Metacycle is also impressive. It is designed to have a slim, sleek profile. It’s low enough to make it accessible to anyone. It has Michelin Road Tires, which provide a smooth ride.

This bike has been designed to be very stylish. A great example of this is that the headlights have been designed. The turn signals are in the large halo headlight at the front of the bike. You will be able to choose between three colors. First, you have Supermassive, which is black. You can select Artic. This makes the bike white, directing attention to the wheels and headlights. Finally, you can pick Naked Silver. This is a silvery color over most of the bike. The battery is a darker shade of silver.

One of the most noticeable design features is the blank space above the battery. Not only is this cool, but it could also serve a functional purpose. In an interview, the designer said it was likely that the company would develop things to fit into the space. For example, they might want to add a hard bag or a range extender battery. They will also include the Level 2 charger for public charging stations.

Battery Life

This bike relies on a Permeant Magnet, Alternative Current (PMAC) battery. When at its peak, it will produce 14kW of power, enough to get the bike to 80 miles an hour.

There are a few things that help set this battery apart. First, it can be charged at home in about 4 hours. It also comes equipped with a Level 2 charger insert. This means that you will be able to use public charging stations. These will reduce the amount of time it takes to charge up your battery.

Those who are planning a longer road trip don’t need to worry. The batteries are swappable. This means that you will be able to carry a spare with you. As we mentioned, in the future, you might be able to have a range-extending battery. The designer said that it’s likely that the battery will be about 3 kW.

Range

When purchasing an electric vehicle, the most important thing that you need to consider is the range. The last thing you want is for it to run out of battery life halfway through your commute. Thankfully, this is a concern that owners of the Sondors Metacycle won’t have. This bike gives you a range of 80 miles (128 kilometers) per charge.

It should be noted that the range can change slightly. For example, if you are riding at high speed for the entire journey or are carrying a lot of weight, it might be slightly less. Regardless, the Sondors should be enough to cope with your daily commute.

Price

The best part of the Sondors Metacycle is the price tag. It will only cost you $5,000. This makes it one of the most affordable electric vehicles on the market. The deposit is just $100. To put it into perspective, the Harley-Davidson Livewire will cost you $29,799.

The creator of the bike addressed the low cost in the interview with Electrek. He claimed that the low prices were the result of the pre-sales model. It told them how much demand there would be. This ensures that they didn’t purchase excess materials. This allowed them to reduce manufacturing costs by around 30 percent. Getting sales in advance also ensured that the company had the funds to get the equipment needed without going into debt.  It’s expected that the first bikes will be ready to start shipping by the end of the year.

Conclusion

Each year, electric vehicles begin to get more competitive. Priced at just $5,000, the Sondors Metacycle is one of the most affordable vehicles in this area. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s low-quality. It has an impressive range and battery life. It’s a lot of fun to ride and has a stylish design. So, if you’re looking for a cool cheap electric bike, it’s worth checking out the Sondors Metacycle.
